ORIGINAL STORY: An Elmwood Park pre-school was placed in lockdown and a teacher was arrested after staffers there said she threatened to “one day…come here and shoot it up,” authorities said.

Several staff members at the Goddard School told police that Gina Schroeder of Nutley “made the threatening statements towards the school,” Police Chief Michael Foligno said Tuesday.

Schroeder, who was the lead teacher in the infant room, also mentioned owning three guns, he said.

She was detained while the Riverfront Boulevard school was placed in lockdown and searched for weapons by a K-9 unit on Friday, the chief said.

“No weapons were located in the building or in [her] vehicle,” Foligno said.

Nutley police seized three guns from her home – all legally owned, the chief said.

Elmwood Park police formally charged Schroeder on Tuesday with making terroristic threats and illegal possession of prescription drugs.

The Goddard School -- which serves youngsters six weeks to 6 years old -- also fired her, authorities said.

She was being held in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
